Concourse Labs Names John Steven as Chief Technology Officer

Seasoned technologist will draw on 20 years of software security experience to help shape the company’s next stage of growth and innovation

New York, February 1, 2021 – Concourse Labs, the leader in automated cloud governance, risk management, and security, today announced that it has appointed John Steven as its Chief Technology Officer (CTO). Steven has more than 20 years’ experience in technology and product development leadership in cyber security, governance and cloud.

“We are pleased to welcome John to the Concourse executive leadership team,” said Don Duet, co-founder and CEO, Concourse Labs. “John’s deep technology expertise in information security combined with his technical depth make him an excellent fit for Concourse. His background directly aligns with key priorities including accelerating the speed of Concourse’s technological innovations that meaningfully benefit our clients.”

As CTO, Steven will lead efforts to accelerate Concourse’s drive to empower enterprises with visibility and control over their cloud risk through automated cloud governance. He will lead Concourse’s engineering teams, play a key role in exploring innovative approaches to help customers solve their cloud risk challenges, as well as drive Concourse’s involvement in industry standards initiatives.

Steven has previously held CTO positions at ZeroNorth, Cigital, and Codiscope and is an industry-recognized strategist, innovator and trusted advisor. Steven holds a true passion for software-defined security governance for the cloud and is a prolific speaker and writer on the subject. He is an author of the BSIMM project, the leading framework for assessing and improving an organization’s software security maturity, serves as co-editor of the Building Security In department of IEEE Security & Privacy magazine and is regularly invited to speak and keynote at critical industry events.

“I am thrilled with the opportunity to contribute to Concourse as CTO,” said Steven. “I am impressed how rapidly Concourse has built such an impactful platform. Organizations need software-defined security governance for the cloud that matches their increasing reliance on the cloud and its orchestration technologies for delivery. I look forward to further elevating Concourse’s mission to this challenge and extending its cloud governance industry leadership, as well as helping set the course for our long-term product innovation and growth.”

Concourse Labs, who last year announced $15.2 million in Series A funding, continues to invest in strengthening the executive team. Steven joins new VP of Strategic Alliances Tamara McCarthy and VP of Product Management Dave Berg, both appointed in late 2020.  Concourse’s leadership team has been on the forefront of enterprise cloud adoption since the advent of cloud and collectively has 50+ years of hands-on experience building, operating, and advising large-scale, public cloud initiatives
